The Strangely Alluring Phenomenon of the Blond Flopsy

In 'Notting Hill' (1999), there is a pivotal round-the-dining-table party scene in which all the main characters of the film are present. There's loads of taunting but sparkling repartee. In the course of which everyone reveals some painful(-ish) secret/s about themselves - all in the competitive quest for the supremely good and last-remaining brownie cake.

William Thacker's revelation (Hugh Grant - male lead and a bookshop owner in Notting Hill) is deprecatingly prefaced by the host (Tim McInnerny) who declares that

'He was handsome once but is now getting a bit squidgy round the edges. And no-one will date him when they find out his name at school was ... '

'I can't believe you really going to do this!'

' ... Flopsy !!!'

(Chorus of voices and general laughter)

'It was the hair!'

And I guess this is the Grant/William Thacker image involved:

Now all this came to mind again when I saw this saw this beautiful blond pompadour, curiously wearing the other kind of pearl necklace:

And here are a few more bone fide (blond) flopsies to consolidate the concept:

And remember, flopsies can be identifies from the back as well as the front - in case you need to do some serious flopsy stalking:

Just to check the 'flopsy' notion, a question. Which guy in the following photo is a 'flopsy'?

The grinner of course.

And just one final question. Is the following bloke a 'flopsy'?

NO! But gorgeous beyond belief! So what's all this 'flopsy' nonsense about!

POSTSCRIPT

In his time, Joseph Sayers has done some good 'flopsy' ...

... and some not so good, bit depending on your point of view ...

... and then there's his other flopsy work that just leaves you gob-smacked:

Now who cares about all this flopsy shit!!!

  2. I've notice that the guys with floppy hair tend to be very bushy below. I love running my finger through both areas.
