My Reluctant Garden

The garden was a bit reluctant to yield up any treasures today - just a couple of bromeliads ...

... which are so FAB, I should be grateful!

My calm and delight were however momentarily spoiled ... when I went into orgies of smugness over the arty light and shadow effects I achieved in the first image!

Oh, alright, it was just a lucky shot!

  3. It's easy to force bloom these plants. Put the plant in a plastic bag with an apple that has been pierced several times. The apple will rot and release methane gas. Take the plant out after ten days. It will bloom shortly. Works every time!

  5. Nick..I garden but NOT the level you do...and all from a NY city apartment..I want to force some bulbs and time them so I have flowers till the spring..but your bromeliads are fucking FABULOUS..I never knew what the hell they were till 2008(our Thanksgiving Holiday)..my lady friend gave me one, with a red flower..and that lover boy has lost the flower but once a week watering, I was never used to...so I spray him..and waiting for him to get another flower..don't know if it's possible inside..ENJOY the summer!

    Cheers..

  6. I LOVE that tip abut the apple...now, who the fuck has an apple???!! thanks ..would a chinese apple work??

NICK..I am here for a confession!...I have lifted many pics from your blog over the past several years(not that many) & they are on my blog if it worked....I am telling you this only because I want to give you my blog link..not as beautiful as yours and mostly what I think are beautiful men or interesting things..I used to write alot and this year I want to get back into it..especially about the conditions living in New York City and our gay rights as humans on this earth!..those 2 things are important to me..the city being because I live in a very historic area,Greenwich Village and they are doing everything in their power to bring it down!

I do NOT get much traffic, as I only really give the link to my friends and usually Tuesday is TAT DAY..and sometimes I get some really famous, cool people that have found their way to my site..I love GOOD tats..and you can check on any Tuesday and check that out..

LOL - for me an apple is just 'elppa' spelt backwards!

please use as many as you like - we all get them from someone else and i have absolutely no claim to any of them - so go on lifting and enjoying and posting!

just looked at your blog - looks great - really! like the mix of porn with other hot guys - kinda forget there are hotties in places other than the pornosphere

yeah, i do more just one handed stuff than i'd really like these days and you remind me of this - i was involved in gay politics for a while and in these pretty conservative turning times we really need to be out there again to preserve our rights

i'd love to put your site on my blog - is that ok? i've got two areas it could be listed - 'one-handed reads' and 'look and read' - which would you prefer - the second as you're thinking of writing more?

  9. If you think your garden's reluctant - spare a thought for mine here in the UK suffering our worst winter for 30 years - hope some plants survive through to the spring!

  10. It's been so unseasonably cold here that the lizards are getting narcoleptic.

  11. LOL - our lizards seem to be the opposite - speed, perhaps?

  12. hey nigel

i've seen the snow 'blanket' covering britain, on google earth among other places

and understand the less than conducive situation for plants there at the moment - and only hope spring brings some flora back to life

    fingers crossed

your comment seemed to have gone astray but i tracked it down and got it here to the 'commment'

my gardening is an accident of nature - really - we just drop things in occasionally from the nursery and they take off - i think to spite us in some curious inverse way - LOL.

someone said something here about forcing plants which seemed good.

our bromeliads look great when they're posted here - tick photography?

actually, we face the sun and the garden is protected from the wind - so i think our success is as much as anything due to this

and spraying indoors seems to be the way to go - we often bring things in from the garden to enjoy them close up - and seem to go into orgies of compensatory spraying

    great to here, best, nick
