Joseph Sayers - An Essay In Black and White
I suspect I can never get enough of Joseph Sayers - and a hot set of black and white images is all the excuse I need for yet another post.

He was stunning when he was just starting out,but he just keeps getting better looking as he gets older. He'd look sensational in black tie and--obviously--even better stark naked. What would it be like to have such looks? Thanks for these!

ReplyDeleteBack in the 1910's through the 30's there was a Belgian-American artist named J.C. Leyendecker who did those Arrow shirt ads and every time I see Joseph Sayers I think I'm looking at one of Leyendecker's paintings come to life.
ReplyDeleteI bet if Sayers had been alive back then he would have driven one of those magnificent Packard Eight roadsters with the little compartment for his golf clubs. Or maybe an Auburn boat-tailed speedster.
Or maybe even a Duesenberg.
The dude is total class.

ReplyDeleteyes, the shoot has a strong deco feel - it seems to be the slicked hair as much as anything - black and white helps.
thanks for pointing in the direction of J.C. Leyendecker - just been googling imaging his work - i can very much see sayers behind the wheel of a huge black Duesenberg coupe - or the Auburn boat-tailed speedster - just been re-familiarising myself with both
golf clubs - yes - and twenties tweed
what i love about him is that he bridges nude and conventional modelling, both with style

there's a set out there of him in evening wear - and you are dead right - as gorgeous as if he were naked
i think if i looked just like this i'd just walk down the street feeling a million dollars - wouldn't even need a reaction - just the warm spring breeze in my face and a real spring in my step - reincarnation suddenly seems an even more attractive prospect than usual!

Great body of course and Joseph is another fave model of mine. I just don't understand why some studios like to use black and white when a color picture of Joseph in all his glory, to me, is so much better.
