Keeping Your Eye on the Art - Leonid Sarafanov and Roberto Bolle

You must know by now that I'm endlessly thinking up ways of putting dance here - in a way that is digestible.

So how bout this one?

Ballet - whatever can be said and as everyone knows - is a very sensual-sexual thing for the dancers and for the public.

With Leonid Sarafanov, it's reasonably easy to keep your attention on the 'art' too ...

... though he is pretty cute (and blond-ish!) ...

But with Roberto Bolle I'm not so sure - he seems to have a real lot of trouble ... just keeping his clothes on ...

... in whatever he's doing ...

So, are your clothes still on - or down round your ankles, artistically speaking?

  1. wellllll, he's pretty gorgeous, and I can imagine quite a few of us not even noticing his partner..actually I think my pants would've been kicked off completely - no sense in being impeded by having them around my ankles. lol

did he have a partner!!! LOL

and i think a heath hazard round your ankles with all the jumping round i'd be doing with him!

we are obviously like-minded 'dance critics' !

picking up on what you were saying, i was in a lawyer friend's office last week and he had the most enormous puter screen and all i could think was how great porn would look on it

think the fluid movement adds something to his attractiveness too

    total yum

  5. Thank you for the Leonid info & video.I am JUST starting to get to learn about ballet at the ripe age of 57yo and it's ALL due to Roberto .I take some dance classes and my teacher turned me on to his dancing..so I went to The Met in NYC to see him, June 2009..my friend says I now am OBSESSIVE!..well I am not in Paris for NYE, where he is now..so that cuts that down in half..but I am so looking forward to seeing him dance this spring 2010 at Lincoln Center. He's doing 5 different ballets but will be in NYC alot longer than last year...I just wanted to know WHERE his wife was on NYE and why not in Paris??? he was with his SISTER/manager...so I am questioning his sexuality..UP or DOWN??? ..but he is just beautiful..and the one REALLY beautiful thing about him, besides what you see, is his EYES..and he rarely shows the blue of those eyes in any pictures..

    Cheers..

  6. hey tony in NYC

apart from the obvious reasons i've loved ballet all my theatre going life, not that it's been that long (but it will be!) - and have seen some amazing performances to date in the theatre - mostly in london, paris and milan. in fact chatting to you here, i'm tempted to do a post on Alessio Carbone at the paris opera ballet - have a great clip of him in 'Arepo' - a quirky modern work but FAB

as you may have noticed, i have a pair of my old ballet slippers in the right column with the blog icons - from the days i was with australian dance theatre - another lifetime!

ballet is EASY to get obsessive about - and roberto just fuels this tendency!!!

    cheers again, nick
