News Flash - 'The New Organ Between My Ears'
Hey guys, with the demise/removal of 'Rick's Crap' blog and the trouble he had with spammers getting into his friends list, and the fact that I'm now somehow getting comments past the word verification thingy and (go figure!) in the names of people who've commented before (such as Greg and Alan), it's probably a good time to remind everyone again of my emergency blog-in-waiting - 'The New Organ Between My Ears'.
Good I guess to bookmark 'The New Organ', if you haven't already.
'The Old Organ' (!) is backed up and ready to export to 'The New Organ' (!!!) and continue business as usual.

ReplyDeleteI used to have a similar problem with the guestbook on my Maui website, and on the websites I designed for other people. Someone figured out how to SPAM the script that ran the guestbook. Instead of the half-dozen comments that would be normal, hundreds of objectionable entries would get posted daily. I wound up deleting that feature.

Nick - I haven't had to use word recog at your blog in several days. Maybe it's Bloggers fault. I have made comments - so maybe it's not someone in Alan's clothing. Please note that if someone wants to assume my life they are welcome to it.

As for backing up a blog, is there a site that:
1) Is free (most important part!)
2) Will automatically "capture" your old blog into the new one??
Really don't feel like re-doing the whole he-bang blog that I have now.

ReplyDeleteyep, two 'greg's yesterday, one the day before - none as fab as u of course! haven't a clue how - maybe like rick, got into my address book
backing up seems easy - you go to your blog's 'settings' and there's an 'export blog' link - click and it downloads a file onto your desktop - when you want to upload to to another blog, go to 'settings' for the new blog and click 'import blog' and select the file on your desktop and the whole blog appears in the new location - minus 'comments'
not sure if this works when the account is removed - it worked for suspension
i did this when 'feetish' was suspended - i'd exported and it was simply a matter of importing it into 'fast footwork'
u can pre-empt closing by exporting and importing a whole blog into a new one before suspension

did the same computer wise - the old one hadn't died but was getting creaky and slow - i regularly save my bookmarks, another way of not loosing people
lousy what happened to ricko - hope it doesn't happen to any of us - have backed up this blog, got a new blog ready and might put all the old blog in another new one in case the back up import thing doesn't work if this one is removed rather than suspended - maybe overkill - LOL!
